A dental filling is a restorative treatment used to repair a tooth that has been damaged by decay, cracks, or minor fractures. The dentist removes the diseased or weakened tooth structure and replaces it with a filling material such as resin composite, glass ionomer, or amalgam.
This restores the shape, strength, and function of the tooth, allowing comfortable chewing and preventing further decay. Fillings also improve the appearance of the tooth and help maintain its integrity, so the damage does not progress into deeper infection or require more complex treatment.
A dental extraction is the permanent removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions may be necessary for several reasons — most commonly due to severe decay, infection, or damage that makes the tooth non-restorable. At Little GiGi, we also perform extractions for impacted wisdom teeth and, in some cases, remove selected permanent teeth to create space for orthodontic treatment. Each procedure is carried out with care and precision to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
Scaling and polishing is a professional cleaning procedure that removes plaque (a soft, bacteria-filled film), calculus (tartar), and surface stains that build up on teeth over time. If left untreated, these deposits allow bacteria to thrive near the gums, leading to gum infection, tooth sensitivity, and even tooth loosening.
At Little GiGi, we also offer AIR POLISHING — a gentle, advanced cleaning method that uses fine powder and air to effectively remove stains and biofilm, leaving teeth smoother and brighter.
For optimal oral health, it is recommended to have scaling, polishing, or air polishing every 6–12 months as part of your regular dental care routine.
